Akiko and Hiroshi think their new home on a tropical island is great once they befriend Pablo, who happily shows them the island's glorious secrets, such as pirate covers and colorful fish. But when Pablo's grandmother tells him that their island had once been at war with people from Akiko and Hiroshi's country, he doesn't want to be their friend anymore. It takes a crisis and an old skipper's wisdom to help them to realize that friendship can overcome the damage caused by war or racial prejudice.
